These oil paintings were created through a process of combining

gesture drawings from photos of Galaxies with the rhythm of swing and blues music.

The major shapes and forms of the galaxy images were quickly and roughly sketched in,

then the reference images were removed and Shepard worked from only the emotions

elicited from the rhythm of the music.
